This policy explains what BusinessMachines.com ("we", "us") collects when you use businessmachines.com, why, who receives it and what you can ask us to do with it. The short version: if you only read the site we collect nothing about you ourselves, and if you fill in a form we use what you typed for the purpose you typed it for.
Reading the site
We run no analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording and no tracking cookies. Our hosting provider, Vercel, and our DNS provider, Cloudflare, process technical data such as IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested in order to deliver and protect the site, and keep server logs for a limited period for security and reliability.
Forms you choose to fill in
- Quote requests: name, work email, company, ZIP code, rough volume or number of locations, timeframe, the machine or page you asked from.
- Contact form: name, email, company, topic and your message.
- Newsletter: your email address, the date you signed up and that you signed up on this site.
Quote requests and contact messages are emailed to us through SendGrid and are not stored in a database on this site. Newsletter addresses are held by Brevo, our email provider, and are added to the list only after you confirm by clicking the link we send.
Every form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which runs a check in your browser and processes signals such as your IP address and browser characteristics to tell people from automated abuse. Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
Who receives your information
- Dealers and installers. When you request quotes, we may pass what you entered to one or more authorized dealers or installers serving your area so they can contact you about that request. They may pay us for the introduction. You are asking us to make that disclosure, and we make it for no other purpose.
- Service providers who process data on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Cloudflare (DNS, security, Turnstile), SendGrid (email delivery) and Brevo (newsletter). They may not use it for their own purposes.
- Where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, users or the public, and to a successor if the site is sold or transferred, under a policy at least as protective as this one.
We do not sell personal information for money outside the quote introductions you ask for, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Links to Amazon and other sites
Product links go to Amazon or other retailers. When you follow one, that site's privacy policy applies, and Amazon uses its own cookie to credit us for qualifying purchases. We receive reports of orders and commissions, not your identity.
How long we keep it
Quote requests and contact messages are kept in our email for as long as needed to handle them and for our business records, generally no longer than three years. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe; afterwards your address is kept on a suppression list so you are not emailed again.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon and other US states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We give these rights to everyone, wherever they live. We honor Global Privacy Control signals. We will not treat you differently for exercising them.
To make a request, use the contact form and choose "A privacy request", or email legal@businessmachines.com. We will verify the request in proportion to what it concerns, usually by replying to the email address involved, and answer within 45 days. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your signed permission. See also your privacy choices.
Children
The site is for businesses and adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, forms are checked for abuse, and we keep what we hold to a minimum. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We will update this page if our practices change and revise the date at the top. Material changes that affect information we already hold will not apply to it without your consent where the law requires it.
