The Expert's Opinion: If there was ever a laser printer to be considered "THE Laser Printer", so to speak, this would undoubtedly be it. Considered a relic by the uninformed, this machine still churns out camera-ready (600dpi) pages, and does it faster than most ink jet machines. Speaking of ink jet machines, the Laserjet 4 is so cheap to run, you can print 10 pages on it for the price of 1 on the average ink jet machine. Plus, since it's a laser printer, your images will look considerably better. I've yet to see what it takes to get one of these machines to quit. I probably wouldn't gush about this machine so much if we didn't use them for our service loaners (due to ease of use and compatibility with just about every OS and program known to man), and the fact that I've used this model at my home office since the turn of the century.
